School is back in
Wow what a summer! School is back in session and I'm not sure how I feel about that. I had a great summer watching my grandson and a stressful one too. I started my masters degree in reading and tried figuring out the best way to keep going on this weight loss journey even when stress hits you in full force. Wednesday when school started I got on the scale and look at my weight. I was lower than I have been in probably 10 years. I finally broke the 10 pound block I was in all summer and realized I lost 16 lbs over the summer. I did better than I thought I was doing while I was bouncing around the same 10 lbs. It really made me realize my journey is not about the number on the scale. I walk 6 days a week and being out side is great therapy, also my grandson is great therapy. The other day I took him outside and we just stood out there until his mom came to get him. He loved it! He loved watching our dog! I tell you what I love watching his face get so excited for life. Where do we lose that excitement? When do we forget that life is ment to be wonderful. Find joy in the journey people. Life is so much better when we can find joy in that journey. Forgive and forget those things that hurt you. You can't help what they do, you can only help how you react to the situation. It is not worth the head ache, I promise.
The first day of school I taught my students 100% responsibility and 0% excuses. They loved it! I'm not sure how the rest of the year will go but for now they are loving it. I put a little basket by my front door and told them that is our problem basket. When we enter into the classroom all our problems go in there and that will help us be ready to learn. When we leave at the end of the day we can get our problems back out if we want to, but if not just leave them there. We don't need our problems to worry us all the time. They really like that idea, so we will see how that goes. I also told them that if the problem is to big to put in the basket they need to tell me so maybe I can help. They learned that they are 100% responsible for their learning and I am 100% responsible for teaching them. It was a great first day and I am going to love my class as I always do. Make life fun! and I hope everyone has a great week.
