How Lucky Are You

Image
How Lucky Are You by Lena Mattice Throughout my life I have come across so many people that have said words to me similar to: Why does it seem like some people have it easy in life? Why is life so hard for some and not for others? Why is it when I try to do what Heavenly Father wants me to do,                why does everything always seem to go wrong? Why does this person or that person always seem to get what they want out of life                when I always seem to struggle? Why does that person fit in with the crowd and that person does not? What makes a person popular and another person not? These are questions that have come to my mind many times over the years and now finally I feel I have a few answers. I grew up in a family of 13 children. Although growing up I did not have the joy of knowing what it was like to have a family that was large.  I came along at the very end of the fami...

A Different Kind of Mission

A Different Kind of Mission By Lena Mattice When my son was a junior in high school, he told me he wanted to play college football. I smiled and told him, “Okay—but it’s going to take a lot of work.” I asked, “And,What about serving a mission?” We talked about different scenarios, wondering if a college might let him serve and then return to play. But we had no idea where to even begin in getting colleges to notice him. His coach mentioned a football camp three hours away. So we drove, and he participated. A few coaches took interest and said they’d be watching his senior year. But that senior year was right after COVID. Schedules were unpredictable, and opportunities were uncertain. We still didn’t know who to talk to or how to get his name out there. Then, during Homecoming week, the team we were scheduled to play had to cancel due to a COVID outbreak. His coach jumped on Twitter, trying to find a replacement team. He found one—but they were two divisions above ours. We needed a gam...

The Jack Rabbit Factor by Leslie Householder

In the early 2000's I was introduced to the writings of Leslie Householder.  There was an author that I followed named Marnie Pehrson now her last name is Kuhns.  She is a great author and I started following her because she started a club called The Clean Romance Club. I was always looking for authors that wrote clean romance.  Anyways one day I received an email from her talking about Leslie Householder and asking all her followers to follow her at Rare Faith. com  I was very interested in the topic rare faith so I went to her website and subscribed to her emails.  I found her newsletter and web site very interesting and at that point I knew that one day I would want to look into what she was talking about.  Now because I had 4 little ones and a day care to run, I felt like I didn't have time to pursue the things Leslie was talking about at that time.  I took her emails and put them in a folder to save for a later date that I would have time to...

Finding Joy and Loving Your Spouse

I know I was going to talk about loving your spouse but before I do that this week I want to talk to you about finding Joy.  My son that was divorced a couple of years ago has found someone else to love.  After his divorce,   He told me, Mom, how do I find a happily ever after when I already had that.  I would tell him, one day you will find someone you can love and you will find out how much more you can love her.  Last weekend he was married to a girl that is his match in every way.  She gets him, she gets his humor, she is not embarrassed by what he wants out of life.  She makes him a better man and wants the dreams he wants.  Just looking at her you can see that she believes in him in every way.  She truly loves him.       At one point in the reception, my son took his bride out to the dance floor for what would be the sweetest moment I would see that night.  As they danced on the dance floor my little grands...

Raising kids #4- raising kids and weight loss

How does weight loss  play into raising kids.  If you are an emotional eater raising kids plays a huge role in weight loss.  I've said it before, raising kids is a hard feat.  But raising kids is the greatest joy you will see in this life.  When your child runs up to you and is so happy to see you, that fills your  hear with so much joy!       Now back to weight loss.  Pregnancy is hard on a woman's body.  Some women can bounce back real quick  but some women like myself , their bodies do not bounce back in fact after one natural birth and 3 C-sections my body shows that it did not bounce back very well at all.  The more I lea rn about it, the more I realize that my body did not bounce back very well because of the choices I made after my babies were born.  If I would have ate healthy along with my exercise  maybe my body would have bounced back a little better.  When I was nursing my babies...

Happy New Year 2022- Love Life not Food

Image
I am going back to the day that I first started my weight loss journey three years ago.  I need inspiration to help me get back the drive I had when I first started getting rid of flour and sugar from my diet.  Something I have learned this past year is that even through I know flour and sugar are not good for me I still like them.  I still want a cookie every once in a while, I still want ice cream once in a while.  Some programs that my subconscious mind is running are what keep me going back to the foods I just want to eat when I want to eat it.  This is my plan for this year.  I want to figure out the program that my subconscious mind is running to take me back to eating the foods that I know are not good for me.  So lets go back in time and see what I said three years ago, to get some inspiration to start 2022 off with some true weight loss inspiration.   Anyone that knows me even a little knows or should know I have not like...

Merry Christmas

Christmas is here and I need to take a break from talking about raising kids for a few weeks.     Imagine I am holding a box.  Inside this box is the most precious gift you could or ever will receive.  Everyone imagine you are opening this box and you look inside. Not one person will see the same thing. It will be different for each and everyone of you. This gift is more precious then gold. A gift from Heavenly Father just for you.  As you look inside the box you see your reflection.  You see the one thing that no one else would ever see.  This is the most precious gift given to you from a loving Heavenly Father.  This gift is you.  Afterglow sings a song about an old violin that was being auctioned off.  No one would pay $1, or even $2 for this old violin.  In the back of the room appeared an older man.  He came forward and picked up the old violin.  He began to play a beautiful tune.  After he had finished play...
